Preparation of Coating on the Titanium Surface by Micro-Arc Oxidation to Improve Corrosion Resistance

In this paper, two kinds of micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coatings on TA2 with different thickness were prepared by controlled time and then characterized for their composition, crystalline structure, surface morphology. The effect MAO treatment electrochemical corrosion behaviors in 3.5% NaCl solution studied the measurements including open circuit potential (OCP), impedance spectroscopy (EIS) potentiodynamic polarization curves. results indicate that behavior coating is related to structure. OCP can be used evaluate porosity coating. More positive indicates lower larger resistance obtained from EIS. significantly enhance TA2, but increase could not further improve resistance. addition, because effective area, may cathode action when galvanic cell composed other more negative metal, which turn promotes metal.
